As you know interjections are those little words or phrases we use to express sudden feelings or emotions. They’re the “Wow!” with something impressive, or the “Oops!” with a mistake. Interjections are quick, expressive, and often stand alone, and bring excitement to our everyday language.
For fifth graders, (or any middle schoolers from what I’ve noticed) learning about interjections can be a fun and engaging experience. At this stage, students are ready to dive into the details of language.
interjections offer a perfect opportunity to explore how words can convey emotion and energy. But, as teachers, how can we ensure they really get it and remember how to use it?

What Are Doodle Notes?
When I first found out about Doodle Notes I was blown away. I was looking for a creative outlet for my students. That’s when I found them! Doodle notes are a creative and visual method of note-taking that helps students process and retain lesson material more effectively.
By combining text with illustrations, doodle notes transform the learning process into a more engaging and memorable experience.
One of the key features that I love and that makes doodle notes so effective is the inclusion of interactive tasks.

Supporting Differentiated Learning with Doodle Notes
What is even better, doodle notes support differentiated learning. Each set includes three different versions: a blank version for students who prefer to take their own notes, a coloring page version with prefilled notes for students who need extra support, and a fill-in-the-blank version that guides students through the lesson while still keeping them actively engaged.
These options make doodle notes incredibly versatile and tend to work for every classroom. Whether a student needs more structure or enjoys a more creative approach, there’s a version that will meet their needs. For example, the “YES!” on the page could be linked to an excited victory pose, while a question mark hovering over a character might illustrate the uncertainty behind “Huh?”
